CSIG Working Group Appointment
March 2014
Following the PIP breast implant scandal, the Chief Medical Office, Sir Bruce Keogh undertook a review of the Regulations of Cosmetic Interventions. As a result a Cosmetic Surgery Interspecialty Committee (CSIC) at The Royal College of Surgeons of England was established to take forward the recommendations from that review. The Committee met for the first time in November 2013 and agreed that they would divide their work into three main areas: standards for training and certification, quality and outcomes, and patient information and decision aids.
Mr Harris has been invited to sit on the Clinical Quality and Outcomes working group as a representative of The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). This vital group will help develop measurement tools for all cosmetic surgeons in the UK, so that baseline standards for safety can be set and individual providers can be compared.
